Reorganizing myself..........
Since I am terrible at keeping up with my blogs (I'm also at gkusoul.tumblr.com),I am changing the format of the content.Mainly due to reorganizing myself and trying to expand myself. This is now to show what I'm doing and what I'm making/designing rather than just using it for inspiration (that's what's tumblr for).I'm going to post my items for the g k u collection.I plan to also give access to customers on etsy.com.Bear with me .Thank You,family.Peace.

This is me....
tired as hell.
This is what's really going on...in my head...
This is what I want to carry in my bag....
(what????)
All this this to say, forgive me for neglecting the blog.Part of that was laziness, part was being really busy.I gotta learn how to rule the world one task at a time...pray for me and my ambitions.

Christian Joy
Amazing work from Christian Joy,a fashion/costume designer from Greenpoint,Brooklyn. Here's a peak at her S/S 09 collection and her stage costumes.
via Urban Outfitters for full article on her and her work.

Stereo/Sewing Machine
I would definitely want one of these since it merges my two most favorite forms of art;fashion and music

via Dexflu T-Shirts

The intent is to make sound visible. It embroiders the frequency of the music. It's only a prototype (I'm sad about that too.).I would love to stitch in my favorite Talib Kweli,J*Davey,Little Jackie and E.Badu songs on my T's.

Jack Davey

I am a music lover.I always get new music.I rather listen to music than watching TV.I'd rather have intellectual conversation about music than talk about the neighbors ugly kids.So I'd like to share what I've been blasting in my studio for a staight week now.I FINALLY have J*Davey's "The Beauty In Distortion" and "The Land Of The Lost" CD's after soooo long I've heard "Mr.Mister" a couple years back.I love Jack Davey!
WHO IS JACK DAVEY??
She has a boy's name (who cares),She's weird (so am I...I've heard),She has a Mohawk (AND?!?!!?).She is Jack Davey, one half of J*Davey (along with Brook DeLeau, who is so CUTE),a duo from Los Angeles,California.Their music can be described as Funk,Alternative Hip Hop,Electronica,Alternative Rock/Funk,etc.,etc.,etc....Who gives a damn how they're catagorized,They are the HOTNESS.No homo, but she's my girl crush and I love her style.Support the Music---My jams are "Everybody Touch It" ,"Camera (Gangsta)","Finer Things (Bossing Up)","Just Because" and "Slooow".The CD can be purchased on their site.Check it out.Good to hear original, real music. They are way underrated.

TotusMel:In Bloom Ankle Corsets

Inspired by a shoe designed by Vicente Rey,designer,Pamela Quevedo of TotusMel set about trying to create a lace shoe. These spat-like pieces are one of the results. They are hand needle tatted with elements of vintage patterns and original designs in black cotton thread. She has other items also that are just as beautiful. There's a Victorian/Romantic Era Goth feel to them. Here's more, enjoy:

Mary Katrantzou

These garments for Fall 09 from Mary Katrantzou are inspired by the illusion of bold jewlery with a 70's twist. There's also jewelry designed as exact replicas of her dresses made from wood and metal. It's hard NOT to be drawn to tthe colorful symmetry of thes garments.
Zulu Rose

Blending African tribal culture with hip modern urban sensibilities is Zulu Rose originally based in California and is now in Brooklyn. They are the futurist of African design. The use tribal art and imagery that is ultra hip and modern, the funkiest color palette ever and is environmentally sustainable. It's one of my most favorite designer labels.

juiceboxes

I came across these via thedieline.com and these are the coolest juice boxes I've ever seen done by Japanese artist/industrial designer,Naoto Fukasawa.I wondered if they feel just like the real thing.
